ELISAGFETaptamerssurface chemistryBSL-2

Building quantitative assays from concept through validation, with a focus on specificity, sensitivity and reproducibility.

  • Validated FAST™ biosensor performance in single-blinded benchmarking with a collaborator: 71–100% concordance with ELISA, depending on application
  • Developed sandwich ELISAs from scratch for lysozyme and TNF: antibody pairing, coating and blocking optimization, calibration curves, dilution linearity
  • Design and run multiplexed GFET biosensor experiments under BSL-2 containment to characterize specificity, sensitivity and reliability
  • Optimize EDC/NHS aptamer and antifouling PEG surface chemistry for pesticide, drug-of-abuse and protein-toxin (bacterial toxins, ricin) sensors; validated antifouling in soil and urine
FAST™ development and workflow optimization
Opentronsrobotic armQC imagingRamanprocess development

Programming robots and precision equipment to make biochip fabrication, testing and quality control faster and more consistent.

  • Operate and program automated liquid handlers (Opentrons, Seyonic)
  • Run a 6-axis robotic arm for liquid dispensing and automated high-throughput DIC imaging
  • Built a post-fabrication QC pipeline combining Raman spectroscopy with robotic imaging
  • Use Marco precision deposition for controlled chip fabrication and surface functionalization
RT-qPCRRNAscopeFACScell culturehistology

Molecular, cellular and tissue assays across in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo systems, from graduate work on enteric viruses to undergraduate research on the gut-brain axis.

  • Designed TaqMan RT-qPCR assays (QuantStudio) for viral, cell-culture and tissue gene expression
  • Mapped gene expression in tissue with RNAscope in situ hybridization, immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy
  • Propagated murine norovirus in HEK293 and BV2 cells under BSL-2 containment
  • FACS of labeled nuclei from mouse tissue, RNA extraction for single-nucleus sequencing
  • Cryosectioning and FFPE processing; intestinal organoid culture; Western blot and ELISA
graphene transferspin coatingRamanprocess developmentQC

Turning biosensor chip fabrication into a reliable, scalable process, and checking every chip before it's used.

  • Developed chip fabrication methods, including graphene transfer onto polymer substrates and spin-coating PMMA support films onto graphene-on-copper
  • Built three in-house graphene transfer methods (thermal release tape, electrochemical delamination, chemical etching), ending reliance on outside transfer vendors
  • Scaled manufacturing from R&D to production, raising post-transfer chip yield from 50% to 90%
  • Designed a post-fabrication QC pipeline: Raman spectroscopy to confirm material presence, quality and purity, plus automated high-throughput DIC imaging
  • Wrote SOPs and trained new team members on manufacturing protocols and equipment
